Khost

A 12-year-old boy who got injured in cricket game in Qalandar district, Khost Province. He was brought to the Waaya SHC by his relatives. After initial wound management in Khost city, the patient’s relatives were advised by the doctor to change wound dressing properly, but due to remoteness of area and lack of health knowledge of the family and patient, the wound dressing remained for about 2 weeks. As a result, the patient came to Wayia SHC having high grade fever and the area severely infected wound. The area around ulcer was widely inflamed. The patient had severe paleness and other signs of septicemia. Wayia SHC personnel provided proper wound care to the client and provided medicine to cure septicemia. The HF staff also gave second appointment to the patient to come for wound care regularly. In addition, the Wayia SHC staff provided proper health education regarding wound care as well as other available services in Wayia SHC. The community members were informed that the services are now available in their neighborhood.
